Cut my hair off
Short hair is easier to maintain, I have heard this many times before behind my chair. Naturally I do a full consultation to discover the true reason behind this. Often the reason behind this life choice is because a lot of people think that short hair is easier to maintain.
My experience
As a lot of my readers know that in my early 20’s I rocked a pixie cut. I had the underneath of my head shaved practically in a cute punky London street fashion way. I loved my short hair for a while it was different not many people had it.
The routine…
Every morning when I woke up I had to wash my hair. Because short hair always looks best when it is freshly washed and styled. Getting away with dirty hair was a thing of the past with my pixie cut. Growth patterns needed to be blown away and old product that clumped together needed to be washed out. Short hair no longer looks classic or stylish if you wear it dirty. I took at least 30 minutes doing my short hair every morning from wash to blow dry.
I cut my hair every 4 weeks….
When I had my pixie I was very particular about how it looked. I couldn’t let it get out grown because I felt that I then looked cheep instead of chic. When you have long hair every 8 weeks will do just fine. Getting my hair cut every 3 weeks made me spend more time in the salon. For some people that can be costly and time consuming.
Styling
Wearing short hair you absolutely must know how to blow dry your hair. Knowing how to knock out those growth patterns and how to create volume in the right places is really important. If you don’t feel like you can figure that out I feel that short hair is not for you.
Face shape
Face shape is everything, and short hair is not for every one. During the consultation I often refer to face shape when we decide a look. Depending on your face shape short hair can enhance certain things that you want to hide.
So for those of you that ask me if short hair is easier I am going to tell you honestly no it is not. Looking for advice your are more then welcome to sit and my chair and we will chat!
